Kaffemik is a tiny roastery with a bar in Neubau, and among Vienna’s most dedicated coffee drinkers it has the standing of an institution. Its filter menu rotates beans from European roasters next to coffee roasted in-house, and the staff will talk through how a cup is brewed when asked, without it sounding like a classroom. When the weather turns warm, the car-free Zollergasse right outside serves as its terrace.
Instead of defaulting to an espresso, ask for the day’s filter, which the barista keeps already brewed and waiting. Regulars like to have the chocolate-chip cookie alongside it.
