Schiacciavino

Schiacciavino is a narrow counter in Santa Croce where Florentines buy filled schiacciata, with wine by the glass served right beside the bread. The flatbread comes in thick slabs and heavily stuffed, and the Bomba Atomica, with stracchino, friarielli and Tuscan sausage, is the filling plenty of customers come back for. At lunch the pace is quick and noisy, as office staff, students and builders eat on their feet on the street in front.

Order the Bomba Atomica, drink red by the glass alongside it and take both onto the pavement, since the room inside is scarcely wider than the counter. The peposo all’imprunetina filling is not made here.
