Pastelaria Versailles is an Avenidas Novas café decorated in full belle époque style, all chandeliers and ornate stucco, with waiters in uniform working the floor between the tables. Its pastry counter is enormous. In the afternoon older regulars settle in among the mirrors over cake and coffee, and the dining room still carries the air of an older, more bourgeois Lisbon.
