Taberna Os Papagaios

Opened beside the Arroios market by the founder of Taberna Sal Grosso, Taberna Os Papagaios is a small, loud room that takes no bookings. The kitchen shops at the stalls next door and turns out plain-spoken Portuguese food: cod tongues with curried chickpeas, lamb brains fried and served in crunchy bread, octopus rice, a tart of marrow and cheese. Neighbourhood regulars pack it early in the evening.
