Zé da Mouraria

After its first dining room in Mouraria shut, Zé da Mouraria kept the kitchen going in Arroios, on Rua Gomes Freire. Most people still come for bacalhau à lagareiro, salt cod drowned in olive oil and garlic, while the menu also offers large platters of grilled fish and octopus. Each main is generous enough to share.

Order fewer mains than there are people at the table, since the portions are made for sharing, and make the bacalhau à lagareiro the one you choose. If older directions point you to Mouraria, set your map to Rua Gomes Freire, where the kitchen now works.
